ALL we need is more of these City killer storms. Whether they be Hurricanes, "the big one" EarthQuake, or Winter Storms. We are just so dependent when it comes to our Oil addiction. These Hurricanes just give fuel to the "Global Warming" crowd, even though the evidence is shaky at best. I don't think anyone knows because last I checked we have been around in America since the 17th century and who knows what the trends are all about.

We have got to get off this oil addiction like a crack addict. We need an intervention. We are blessed to be dodging the inevitable. But we are one heart beat away from Economic disaster.
A speech this week from President Bush to create a Manhatten Project to give the Oil Related Business some slack, is long over due. Won't happen, but he can do more.
You know why it wont happen? It wont happen because some have advised those in power that there will be millions unemployed with the loss of the Oil Industry. That wouldn't happen since there is so much business need for products that need oil. But if we must get at least Auto's off the fossil fuels and come up with something to replace a 100 year old technology, it will strengthen America.
I cant believe for the life of me why a President cant take that courageous step. It looks like Government is getting more and more irrelevant. I love the guy, but come on.
Lets do it. If I were President, I would be coming up with a new Super Charged USA using Alternative energy, Nuclear Energy, new refineries, etc.
Wonder why it wont sink in to the Congress , the Whitehouse, and the Department of Energy.
As I mentioned in the below post...... "what are they doing all day?" You almost want to take the powers that be and shake the heck out of them.
Couple of things we can do:
1. Monitor the Oil Companies to see if they are hosing us. Try to win a friendly Oil company ( like looking for a friendly shark) so that we can praise or then shame the one's that are taking advantage of us.
2. Have the media pick a day once a month that they can have the public not buy any
gasoline. Not a drop on one day a month. That would send a message.
3. With the Bush and Cheney friendliness with OPEC, ask them to lower the price of crude
now by 25 per cent. It costs $4.45 to produce a barrel of oil.... So $70.00 a barrel ????
4. Leadership or Private sector. While we always look to government to solve our problems,
those days seem to be over. We need to make an effort to come up with the products that
don't need the oil products.

Gas Prices and how to add 30 points to W's Approval
I do have a question for President Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush 2. Why in the heck have you done nothing to address the Energy problem. Year after year I have to hear about this. Since the gas lines 30 years ago, you would think something significant would have been done. Some in power have it in their heads that the American public get tired of a situation and eventually go away. NOT THIS TIME. Either the Powers that be do something or I will. I am Results on steroids.
Here's what happens. Gas prices go up a bit. News media then starts talking about how to get better mileage, how we are dependent on OPEC and Foreign sources. Yada Yada. The State attorneys of States who want to run for higher office tell the press they are fighting for us and asking the Oil Companies why the increase. Or Ultra Liberals like John Kerry propose adding 50 cents to a price of a gallon of gas, "so people will drive less"... Genius... NOT. Then finally the rip offs come on the market in ways to tweak that extra mileage out of cars. AND then we get used to it and forget. That is what the Whitehouse leaves us too? Come on, really!!!
The funniest thing I saw the other day was Transportation Sectretary Norman Mineta standing above a highway telling us that he has increased the mandatory auto mileage............. That wont take into effect in several years. As they said on "THE BELT WAY BOYS" on FOXNEWS that the Model T got 27 miles a gallon..... So Norman goes out to get us from 22 to 27 !!!!!!!!!! THAT'S It????? !!!!!!!! That is all you got? Wooooooooooooooo .........NORMAN, as they say............"you are fired".

As President I would Executive Order a "Manhattan Project" to come up with Alternative Energy and different methods of Auto engines. I would also create an "X-prize" for guaranteed $ 1 billion to someone who comes up with an operational alternative to the Gasoline engine. You can have standards like 120 miles per gallon or something totally off the oil grid. It will cost the US economy more than 100 billion if the gas lines start appearing. We are one OPEC leader gone crazy or a terror act away from a Trillion dollar loss in the economy and for sure major Recession if this isn't working. We have dodged the bullets but we cant afford the delays .... Again.
President Bush, Your poll numbers would leap 30 points if this was done this week. If the voters see a President carrying for us for a change, the Polls would go through the roof and I can gloat that the Liberals hate it.
Just close your eyes and envision the President standing in the Rose Garden announcing this Immediate goal assistance package for everyday Americans. I can hear the Liberal's Fax machine talking points now. YESSS.
While I also concerned about a mushroom cloud in a US city , HomeLand Security should be on going and keep up the good work (B- because of lack of Border control) .................... But I am also worried about a massive Oil slick Mushroom if we don't get a handle on this gas price and oil dependency.
But if we take Oil off the table with energy dependency, we eliminate one more thing we have to do to fight wars and spend $300 Billion. Whether there was oil in the Mid East, I for one think we are 10000 percent correct with our action to free millions more people. But I am sick of walking on egg shells and Oil slicks to make decisions. Make Oil an non issue.
Think for a moment of a United States that is maybe 10 percent dependent on Foreign oil. We will wont put the oil companies out of business. Oil is still needed in everything from cosmetics to plastics. I just thing we need to get out of the 1908's technology. You mean to tell me we have gone from the Wright Brothers in the 1900's to supersonic jets and the Space Shuttle in 100 years but we still have the basic internal combustion engine in the same time. Something is wrong.
As a private citizen I am starting a site on my own since no one is doing it. Then we can hear all the brains at the Auto makers complain and call for Government assistance when they lose their rear ends. But, hey, they did have their chance. Since the stock of GM and others are at rock bottom, you think some genius there would do this. Their loss if they don't.
The next thing I would do is improve the 40 year plus old technology for silicone solar cells. I fly and all I see is unlimited potential in bare roof tops on homes and businesses. They can be loaded with solar panels. I am building a new Home office in Ventura country of 200,ooo sqft. The entire energy plan will make it receive its power from solar panels. I am doing that because I am not sure what the power grid in California will be in 2025. In the "reward" plan, ask for better panels to produce electricity. There has got to be something better that 1960 technology. We aren't using 1960 electronics and computers are we.???
You do these things and just the shock from the competition effect will produce results.
Solar energy can also be in the form of wind energy..... Improve those generators and make more electricity.
There are other techniques like Tidal wave energy. Placing generators to gain power from underway water flow and tides. Hundreds of things. You don't need 20 year building projects.
Add Federal money to Fusion research they say is 30 years out. We'll in 15 years we will have ANWAR and refineries. SO what is 30 years. Manhattan Project that. I am not an expert on that but some people are. If I am not mistaken, token small amounts of money is used in this right now. Don't know if it works but TRY. GOOD GOLLY, man.
Look, if some asked me to attempt one of only 2 things........ Go to Mars (which I would love) or Manhattan Project energy....... I have a feeling the Later would be easier. I am not saying make a choice, I am saying do the easiest NOW. We have a rich and talented science population..... use it or lose it.

I am not sure the 2006 election will be as successful unless this Energy thing is addressed as are the things mentioned in this Blog. This Administration is the one in the game and the one to blame or thank. I would rather see action and results and no blame. As is the case in my football analogy below in the Iraq post, this holds the same. If we were a football team, do we get a plan of action to win the game and build a legacy for future seasons. Or do we do nothing and hope for the same ole same ole which I am afraid wont work anymore. It is a different world. DO we want a 13-0 Energy plan or a 2-10 year. You make the choice.
Ask the TV networks to get the word out. Foxnews is viewer friendly and fine people. Bill Oreilly is putting pressure on Legislators to get the Jessica Law the law of the land. Why isnt the Attorney General doing this.? That's another story.
I know some anchors and folks at FOXNEWS and know they can assist in making this INVENTION Reward plan work. Then they don't have to cover Michael Jackson , Aruba and other mindless stories that affect no one. That would make it worth the effort.... LOL. I am sure they will help make it happen. Then the other media outfits will follow. Make it a community effort and ask the USA Brain network get the job done.

Where do I start ? IRAQ FIRST
If you have seen the movie Forest Gump, you have heard the quote..... "life is like a box of chocolate......" we'llllll not exactly. In my opinion, life is like Football. Some times the ball rolls perfectly, sometimes you get sacked for a loss of 10 yards, sometimes you get the 80 yard pass for a TD. You never know how a football game or for that matter a season goes.
In this game that started in 2000 and refocused in 2004 has had its fill of fickle fans. You have a re-election which showed the "preaching of the choir" gang and then you had the bunch whose opinion on the Bush Administration runs the gambit. It runs from irrational hate like the Howard Deans and Cindy Sheehans to the plain ignorant who think President Bush is taking our rights away and have been brainwashed by the Lefties.
But who concerns me is the free thinkers who want all the best for the country and who try to come up with solutions,and not throwing the bombs and express their empty viewpoints.
The President can make 100 speeches right now and so can a coach who is losing support or games. This Country is 'RESULTS" orrientated. All the people who hated my football team and mocked them the most are completely silent or part of the band wagon now that they are 13-0. So for me, I hope I have Solutions that I pray will be considered. For now lets talk about the things that are priority. We can look at this like a football team, coaches, players and fans.
IRAQ
The first thing I would do as President is reshuffle the advisors (coaches) and see who needs to go and who needs to stay. I am fan of a team in which the coach was such a loyal boss, it gave him tunnel vision. It almost lost him a job. He finally relented, hired some top notch staff and went from 7-5 to 13-0. He fought it tooth and nail and thought he was correct. He wasn't. People like me saw if different. The 7-5 year was to be the National championship year. We had the best team put together (identical to the 13-0 team) but the Coaches and advisors stunk up the place.
I am fully confident that the team in the Whitehouse is fully capable, I would right now reshuffle the plan and methods for now. Not to say anyone is doing something wrong, just a fresh face will do wonders.
First thing I would do is hire a "Battlefield Commander" to run the Iraq situation. It isn't time for civilian politics and ambassadors right now. General Macarthur didn't allow it in Japan and since we are getting shot at, it shouldn't be happening in Iraq.
Right now some in the State Department and CIA rotate out of theater every 90 days........... I would assign them there for a year. If you have to tell the troops they need to stay, you can tell these guys to stay. What in the heck can be done in 90 days.
I would then meet, secretly or publicly. with Iran, Syria, etc., and tell them that if we find a foreign national in Iraq, something will be bombed in that country. The loss of electric power in Damascus , Sudan, or a border town in Iran will do much to make the point.
I would "close" that border between Iran and Iraq and Iraq and Syria with armed Predators or AC130 gunships on patrol and litter with 50 calibers anything moving. Right now I can pull in an Aircraft carrier on a trailer through there and no one will see me.
Next thing. create a Tribal-Sheik-Community protection committee in Iraq cities to the Neighborhood level. Make them responsible for security. Wash your hands with responsibility of that. If Terrorists are running amuck then the actions by the USA will don't be challenged since a game plan would be agreed to in advance. If a Mula supports sanctuary of Terrorists then the Smart bomb that gets close to a House of Worship would be their responsibility not ours. New Rules they can live with.
Finally, go on the offensive daily. If that means getting out of Humves and patrolling and Training on the spot the local Iraqi military or security then do it. AT THE SAME TIME, I would again meet with the local powers that be and let them be in control of any activity that happens in their community.
Bring in the Sunii's who are the ones attacking us, and tell them to ring in the attackers. The ones attacking us are the radicals and those threatening those to strap on the suicide bombs. THey are basically the Saddam hench men gone underground. But if you can include these Sunnnis in the rebuilding and restructuring of the country. the radicals will be not as comfortable in those areas.
Since the new Constitution is "decentralizing" power , decentralize the responsibility. General Macarthur did not make a country wide USA authority, he divided it up into regions and never ending viewpoints, desires, backgrounds, etc. You need to de fragment the many parties. As is in the political tone: "It's the community, stupid".
Look we had a 13-0 team taking Iraq but we are losing a couple games or winning some with a small margins.
Rethinking a tweaking the game plan is normal for anything..... Football, military ops or politics.
Next we talk about Domestic things that hit the Americans everyday......... GAS prices and Energy.
